Children's Ministries
At Los Altos United Methodist Church, we are committed to children as an integral part of our community of faith. We recognize the importance of creating a joyful learning opportunity for kids to connect with all ages, and hear and share the stories of our faith.
We offer two primary opportunities to gather as a faith community each week: Sunday mornings in worship and Wednesday evenings at “Mid-Week Gathering: Everyone’s Inn.”

Sunday Mornings with Children
All-Ages Worship
Every Sunday, we welcome families of all ages to worship together. Special materials are prepared weekly to assist parents and caregivers in worshipping with their younger children , and to help our youngers to connect and participate throughout the service. In particular, we offer prepared “worship bags” and “worship binders” that coordinate with that morning’s lesson and scripture. Frequently, we also offer an activity led by parent volunteers during the sermon for preK - 2nd grade children. Throughout the Christian year, we seek ways to involve children in leading worship such as singing, processions, Children’s messages, reading scripture, acolyting, and helping with our offering.

Small Group
Small groups offer a place for deeper faith connections to form in the church community. Small groups for children meet on Wednesday night from 6:45 p.m.- 7:30 p.m. following Everyone’s Inn. We believe that “leading small” is the most effective way of modeling Christ’s community and forming disciples. Children connect not only with each other, but with adults who care for them, know them by name, and know what’s going on in their lives. Small Group Leaders (SGL’s) work very hard to partner with families, understanding that parents and guardians are the #1 influence in a child’s life. Families and SGL’s walk together in a shared faith journey.
Safety
We prioritize the safety and protection of all children, students, and volunteers involved in our ministries. All teachers, assistants, and leaders with young people go through a thorough interview process and background check screening.
In order to make our campus as safe as possible, we use a secure sign in for on-campus activities. To simplify the process, please register your child with KidCheck here: https://go.kidcheck.com/signin.aspx?action=register. Once children are registered, they can be signed in each week with the phone number provided by the guardian.
